Department of Mechanical Engineering, Process Technology and Maritime Technologies
InProReg is very much in line with our other activities of advancing the simulation tools for the design of mechanical engineering products with special emphasis on their production friendliness. We welcome the opportunity to integrate our simulation based capabilities and tools into a general production oriented framework, especially if the focus is on the needs of SMEs.
– Prof. Axel Krapoth, project leader
Our institute, the Mechanical Engineering Lab, focuses on the simulation of complicated mechanical or multi-physical problems which are normally not within the reach of SMEs. In many cases, SMEs produce semi-finished products and are dependent on their overpowering customers. They need advanced methods to meet the uneven terms, which they normally cannot afford. Our part in the project is to provide and popularize a platform (of concurrent engineering) to give them some assistance in this field. The use of the platform will then be introduced into the vocational education structure of Eckener-College.
